Giro preparation races (Cat. 3)

Post by emmea90 » 23/04/2018, 9:59

Contest #6 - Giro preparation races (Cat. 3)
A small contest before Giro d'Italia that will focus mainly on Tour de Romandie. Not on the race itself but as preparation for Giro d'Italia.

Tour de Romandie declares bankrupt. You have to draw a new race - of six days, World Tour - that took Tour de Romandie spot - as a preparation race for Giro d'Italia.

Requirements:
- Technical difficulties should be the same of Romandie (not 2018 edition in particular and this does not mean you have to provide exactly the same type of stages in details, for example the CTT)
- You can't draw it in Switzerland
- You can't draw it in Italy, Spain or France - the three Grand Tours country
- You have to focus the race on a region/particular area, limiting transfers
- You can track it where you want but Europe is preferable due to transfers after Liege

Deadline: 26 may 2018, h 23.59

Sagan Tour of Slovakia
maps/tours/view/9196

Peter Sagan is by now three times World Champion and one of the most popular cyclists in the world, but there's no World Tour race in Slovakia yet.
Slovakia is a country, and not a region, but it's not the biggest one, and was a part of Czechoslovakia before, so you can say it's a region which have become a country.
The two first stages will start and finish in Sagan's home town, before som medium mountain stages, and the final in the capital Bratislava.
The parcourse is drawn in the way that Sagan should have possibility to win some stages, and maybe the GC, but mountain passes have to appear to in a Giro-preparation-race.

P Žilina > Žilina 4.91 Km ITT
1 Žilina > Žilina 176.38 Km Flat
2 Žilina > Zliechov 164.46 Km Hilly
3 Banská > Demänovská Dolina 142.18 Km Hilly
4 Poprad > Kokava nad Rimavicou 165.43 Km Hilly
5 Zvolen > Bratislava 215.11 Km Flat

This is my proposal, the Tour of Dalmatia
maps/tours/view/9332

Dalmatia is a region of the Eastern Adriatic Coast longtime ruled by Venetians: it spans from Rab Island (North) to Boiana River (South). Actually, for the biggest part, is the homonym region of Croatia, but smaller parts are located in Bosnia Herzegovina, Montenegro and Albania. After the collapse of the Tour of Romandia, Croatian government, in collaboration with Bosnian and Montenegrin governments, is glad to announce a new Stage Race in this region. The beauty of the landscapes, the importance of the cities of arrival, and the variety and difficulty of tracks, will be appreciated by the cycling world.
More details in the single stage description.

Hello, here I present my second route for Giro Preparation Races : Tour of Ireland

Ireland is not very much represented in races calendar, so that's why I made that race.

Stage 1: Sligo > Galway (Plain - 207,41 km)

First stage is a flat stage but the wind can join the party and do some damage.

Image

Stage 2: Galway > Tralee (Hilly - 223,17 km)

This stage is for puncheurs and good downhill riders because the downhill is very technic.

Image
Image

Stage 3: Tralee > Adrigole (Hilly - 177,75 km)

This stage is passing through the hills of western Ireland, with fantastic landscapes all the day.

Image
Image
Image

Stage 4: Bantry > Waterford (Plain - 202,28 km)

No climb categorized today but the stage is not flat at all. In the end of the stage we can see lots of climbs and downhills.

Image

Stage 5: Wellington Bridge > Mount Leister (M-Mountain - 181,63 km)

This is the queen stage of this Tour of Ireland. The last climb is extremely hard in the final part. We make one lap around the Mount Leister before finishing at it.

Image

Stage 6: Tallaght > Dublin (ITT - 21,45 km)

Last stage is an ITT in the streets of Dublin.

Thanks for reading, GOOD LUCK

Here is my Giro Preparation Race, the Tour of Lisbonne's region (Região de Lisboa) which covers the district of Lisboa and the district of Setubal. One (almost) flat stage, one ITT, one summit finish and three medium moutain/hilly stages.

Spoiler!
Two short walls (less than 1km but at least 7%) in the last 5k will make it harder for the sprinters to become the first leader of the race.
Image

It's quite flat and quite long and it will create some gaps early in the race.
Image

A short stage that ends on a summit, first possibility for the climbers to regain some time.
Image

A very hilly day ending on a short wall (1,7km at 8,1%).
Image

The longest stage of the race, maybe less difficult than the previous day even if the height difference is very similar.
Image

Another hilly day with some possibilities of attack in the last 50km.

Finally Portugal has a WT race.

If you think Portugal is only beaches, you are very wrong. Yes... We have some mountains, and very steep.
In 6 days of Tour, there are 25 KOM, in 5 medium mountain stages and 1 high mountain stage.

This Tour is in Minho. The region far northwest of Portugal.

Guimarães, city of the birth of Portugal, of course is the start of Volta ao Minho.
Thinking in Giro, the last stage has one climb with 2km of dirt section.
The summit finishes are with great gradient, similar to the great italian climbs.

Volta ao Minho has all to be a great Giro preparation race.

maps/tours/view/9461

Sorry about my english.

Greatings from Portugal, a great place for cycling.

I know that this is officially past the deadline of this contest, but since I only just finished this project I decided to upload it anyway.
I saw nobody made a race outside of Europe, so I absolutely wanted to take the risk of making one myself. I hereby present to you the Tour of Morocco:

maps/tours/view/9507

This race takes place between three Imperial Cities of Morocco, Rabat, Meknès and Fez, and then ending in Tanger, the very north of this beautiful country.
The transfer (Liège – Morocco) shouldn’t be too hard, only the time zone difference might cause some troubles.

Stage 1: Rabat - Rabat

Stage 2: Rabat - Meknès

Stage 3: Meknès - Ifrane

Stage 4: Fez - Taounate

Stage 5: Issaguen - Tétouan

Stage 6: Tétouan - Tanger
