Post by emmea90 » 11/02/2018, 18:20

Winter Stage Races (Cat. 2, deadline on 13/3)
After Tour Down Harder Contest, the second contest will be about the winter stage races. What are the two most famous winter stace races? Of course the Paris - Nice and the Tirreno - Adriatico.

We propose to merge those races in a mini grand-tour of 13 stages, starting from Friday 2 and ending on Wednesday 14 March 2018

Rules to follow
- You must start in one of the districts near Paris
- You must end in center Italy, preferably on Adriatico
- Col d'Eze must be inserted in the route with Nice hosting a stage finish
- The six stages before Thursday 8 must be set ALL in France, the six stages after Thursday 8 must be set ALL in Italy
- You had to take into account that race are settled in early march, so, for example, there is snow limit. You have to avoid high altitudes. You cannot go above 1700 meters in French stages and 1800 meters in Italian stages.
- You must insert at least one mountain stage in france and at least one mountain stage in italy
- Those races are stages races but are also a preparation races for Sanremo. You must provide GC battle with Mountains and Time Trial but the focus should also be about mixed / medium mountain stages making riders like Gilbert, Alaphilippe, Kwiatkowski the chance to feature in at least 3-4 stages

Deadline: 13 march 2018, h 23.59

If you competed in Tour Down Harder Contest, remember to vote

I don't understand this. Do we have to do 7 stages in France and 6 in Italy? or is it the other way around?

Do we have to do a criterium-like starting stage like Paris-Nice or we can use a normal inline stage?
You can do whatever I want but in my evaluations a starting-stage like the one of Paris-Nice usually is preferrable
Paris-Nice usually starts with either the mentioned criterium-like stage or a prologue. Which one is "preferrable"?

Definitely not. The near suitable space for a finish is in the parking of "Villaggio Sacro Cuore"

This race clashes with Strade Bianche, so i doubt it will be used as a prep race by many classics-focused riders, who will be in Tuscany at the time. Also, Sanremo is not Ardennes classic. It's a flat stage with hilly finale. I would change the rule from mixed/medium mountain to sprint stages with hilly finishes (like Sanremo). Also, i'm not sure of the Nice-Eze clause as it really ruins the race as i find it an unecessary convenience. Not that i have something against Eze, but it's not a good climb and forcing it with Nice is imo a loss of precious time.

Now to the questions:
1. What does "one of the districts near Paris" mean? Is "the district" one of the cities relatively near Paris (where Paris-Nice usually starts) like Plaisir, Rambouillet, Évry, Melun? Or is it a city/district bordering with the main Paris core like Saint-Denis, Boulogne-Billancourt, Meudon, Créteil?
2. Is the length limit the same for a WT race i.e. 250km for a normal stage and 60km for an ITT?

About this, of course, Strade Bianche will be scheduled in another date.

Yes, Nice-Eze clause is of course to force you to pass with Nice and approach Italy from Nice. It was inserted by purpose for that.

Questions
1. The second one
2. Race is WT class, rules of WT races are applied.

Yes, will be out of the contest rules, so maximum penalty (50 points).

You cannot also go in Vatican City, but it's pretty impossible due to the closed road inside. (Remember that Piazza San Pietro is Rome soil, it's vatican only behind columns and the church's wall)
