Contest #1 - Colombia Grand Tour
Contest #1 - Colombia Grand Tour
The first contest will be about a designing of a Grand Tour in a region that has recently grown thanks to San Luis, then San Juan and Tour of Colombia: South America - and we will do it in Colombia.
You have to draw your 21 stage race in Colombia, following the traditional rules for a GT: 3500 Kms max length, 21 days of racing and 2 of rest. And of course all the UCI rules: contests/uci-rules-t7083.html
The GT is intended to be ridden between January and February in replacement of Vuelta San Juan and Tour Colombia so no need to worry about snow in mountains. It's summer there
Constraints
As it's not possibile to track in Colombia now with the editor, we suggest to use www.ridewithgps.com and import the GPX there for the sprints.

Constraints
- You can host a maximum of three stages of a 'Grand Depart' in a nation that share borders with Colombia
- The final stage must be in Bogota, Medellin, Calì, Barranquilla or Cartagena
- You should try to visit at least four of the five Colombian regions
- The route should present at least four high mountain stages
- The route should present at least 40 Kms ITT
- The route should be balanced
- You can present circuits only in two stages, final eventually included in it

Having it's Grand Depart in Venezuela with 3 stages, including a first slight summit finish in San Cristobal.
It features a 27Km TTT and a 43Km ITT, 3rd and 12th stage respectively.
There are 8 flat stages, 5 are for pure sprinters, 3 have some dificulties that may hamper them.
There are 5 medium mountain finishes, only the opening stage finishes uphill.
There are 6 high mountain stages, with 2 summit finishes.
Awesome route, roads were obviously an issue but the sheer amount of possibilites within the mountains to make epic stage profiles was really cool, no absurd sky-high mountains, lots of multi-mountain days with the rough stuff far from the finish, long climbs, steep climbs, there really is everything here. Hope you like it!

Grand Depart in Cartagena with a ITT.
After stage 7, a short mountain stage, the riders will fly by plane towards the start of the next stage.
The first rest day is after stage 10, in Medellin.
Second rest day is in Cali, after stage 15, that day there's also a flight by plane.
Finish is in Medellin
2 ITT's
8 Sprint stages
7 Mountain stages
4 Hilly stages
It's the beginning of the season so i think 8 pure sprint stages is not too much. I also tried not to go too high in the mountains.
