Pesallu Grand Tours

Post by pesallu »

This is a hard Tour de France with:
- 7 flat stages
- 7 high mountain stages
- 4 medium mountain stages
- 2 ITT
- 1 TTT

full Tour: maps/tours/view/3770

The Grand Depart is Düsseldorf, like next year's tour de france, with a team time trial. Second stage goes trough a hilly terrain in Les ardenes. Next, several flat stages across the north and centre of France, including the Massif central. 2 hard long stages in the pyrenees. Several transition stages and the pièce de résistance, The Alps. 5 Alp stages and a mountain time trial that will mark the race. Finishing, several flat stages heading to Paris and the decisive long time trial in Dreux.

Just had a look
- What you call "col de Tentes" is better "Cirque de gavarnie". I prefer to reserve the word "Col" at the top point of the pass
- Col des Encombres is, unfortunately, not practicable in a Tour de France as the surface is very dirty in the top (with lot of holes). I think that is a really hard stage to be placed in the second week
- The same for Col de Voza (and i think the descent is too hard)
- I really don't like the stage distribution. Basically you have three sprints in the last four days of the race, and no sprints between stage 7 and 18. I think moving up to Paris could be a thing of early 2000's TDF, not actual ones. I would've at least saving a stage going from Troyes side.

I know I included several unpractical Cols but I wanted to add some new names. I called Col de Tentes because Cyclingcols does it and regarding the tour's distribution, I see your point but I suppose it's a matter of taste. Nevertheless, Thanks for the tips.

This is a well-balanced Tour de France with 7 flat stages, 3 medium mountain stages, 2 ITT and 9 high mountain stages. The Grand Depart is in Bretagne, finishing in the famous Mûr-de-Bretagne. The next three stages will go all over the west coast of France, with high risk of crosswinds. Then, the Pyrenees with 3 summit finishes including the unknown Font-Romeu Pyrenees 2000. Before moving to the north of France, they will have a rest day. And now, several transition stages through the noth of France, the Massif des Vosges and the piece of resistance, the Alps, with 6 mountain stages with colossus like Galibier, Verbier and Mont Ventoux which will mark the race. Before Champs-Élysées, the important flat timetrial in Bourges.

It's an Ski resort in the french pyrenees near the border with Andorra, it's also called Mollera dels Clots (http://www.cyclingcols.com/col/MolleraDelsClots). It seems hard, but the percentages never exceed 10% although it's 17 km long

Contest Tour de France 2017

Post by pesallu »

Welcome to the greatest show in the world, from July 1st to 23rd, Le Tour de France will ride across France climbing the most legendarious cols of Le Tour.

The tour includes
- 8 high mountain stages, only 4 of them are uphill finish ( legendarious Cauterets, Tourmalet, Galibier and Mont Ventoux). That means downhill attributes will be crucial.
- 8 flat stages with surprises on each of them. So breakaways will be usual and baroudeurs will have options.
- 3 time trials. 1 openning team time trial, 2 individual time trials (1 of them uphill finish in Alpe D'Huez).
-2 hilly stages for puncheurs

Theme of the race: legendary cols

Giro d'Italia by Pesallu

Post by pesallu »

This is a decent proposal for a hectic Giro d'Italia, across Italy from south to north, from Taranto to Milano.

This giro includes:
- 6 flat stages
- 5 medium mountain stages
- 7 high mountain stages mostly gathered in the infernal final week with finishes ( Tre Cime di Lavaredo, Montecampione, Alpe di Pampeago...)
- 3 individual time trials ( an openning one, a long time trial on stage 17th and a final one in Milano)

Finally you did the Giro!!! I'm so jealous of the quality of your maps, amazing! Keep up the good work

PS: Cima Coppi climb is only supposed to be the highest pass of the race. The 1st Category and HC climbs are both named 1st Category climbs. For example: if you have the Monte Zoncolan and the Passo dello Stelvio in the same Giro, Stelvio would be the Cima Coppi and Zoncolan would be a 1st Category (even though it's an HC)

Le Tour de Cheese

Cheese is one of the most magical and delicious creations to ever grace this earth and France produces more than 400 types of superb cheese.

The Grand Départ will be Emmental, Canton de Berne in Switzerland, another awesome cheese producer country.

Image

FAVOURITES

Tour de France Podium Favourites are:

Chris Froome, the man to beat. 3 time winner of the Tour de France Chris Froome is the main favourite to be crown in Champs-Élysées on July 23rd. This year his strenghts in the mountain are similar to other favourites like Richie Porte or Romain Bardet. However, his excellent TT skills favour him over the other contenders

Richie Porte. Richie has had a strong season so far, winning the Tour Down Under, the Tour de Romandie and finishing 2nd in the Dauphine. Probably, the only one who can beat Froome in the TT, so he's a clear podium candidate.

Nairo Quintana. Same level as Froome in the high mountain but his TT skills reduce his aspiration to win the Tour

Romain Bardet. The frech hope, he has improved significantly in the mountain although he is still one steep back in the TT over his rivals Froome or Porte.

Fabio Aru. He's been pushing hard lately, his defiant style in the mountain favour him but TT is his weakness.

Alberto Contador. During the decline of his career he can achieve Top5 if crashes in the first week don't dwindle his strenghts.

Image

Grand Départ

The race will start in Emmental region, Switzerland. It starts in the spectacular Emmental AOP Show Dairy of Affoltern im Emmental, where Emmentaler swiss cheese is produced.

Image

The Route

This Tour will visit the most iconic cheeses of France, and some regions of Switzerland.

Image

Running from Saturday July 1st to Sunday July 23rd, the Tour de France will be made up of 21 stages and will cover a total distance of 3,532 kilometres.

- 8 flat stages
- 6 hilly stages
- 5 mountain stages including altitude finishes (Ordino-Arcalis, Courchevel Altiport, Plateau de Solaison)
- 2 individual time-trials stages ( 57 km totally)
- 2 rest days
The Tour de France will include a total of 60 mountains climbs or hills and altitude finishes ranked in fourth, third, second, first or HC class distributed in Jura, Massif central, Pyrénées and The Alps.
