Giro d'Italia 2018 (Cat. 1, deadline on 4/5)
Contest #2 - Giro d'Italia 2018
The first GT contest (Cat. 1) of the year will, of course, be on Giro d'Italia. Why I'll open it so early? Because drawing a GT is not for all and i want to give you three months to do it (at least say thanks)
The contest will be about redrawing the 2018 Giro d'Italia. That will mainly means
- You have to keep the start from Israel. You can change the starting points and cities but you have to pass on West Jerusalem and you cannot go in Palestinian territories for safety reasons.
- You have to end it in Rome
- You cannot repeat finals or key parts of stages of 2017 real race
- You have to put a stage start or a stage finish in at least 15 different regions
- 2018 is 100 years after WWI end, so you have to remember it in at least two stages
Opposite from the other contests, you can have a maximum of TWO routes submitted for this one
The Giro should be balanced, offering a "Dumoulin" and a "Quintana" the same chances to compete for the maglia rosa.
The Deadline will be on 4/5, when the first rider of real Giro d'Italia will start his ITT
You must submit your routes in this topic submitting the link. As stated in general presentation, you can submit from 1 to 3 routes. You can use this topic also for asking the question - we can answer question about climb / road / finish praticability but we won't answer to anyone's questions in private, only in this topic.
Everyone who will present the route also posting in the topic profiles and descriptions in this topic will start the voting phase with 3 points bonus
Good luck anyone

Is it viable a finish at Rifugio Calvanico? Or is it better a one at Vesuvius?

my tour is this: maps/tours/view/8237
stage 1 is a short ITT in jerusalem, stage 2 a sprint, stage 3 a medium mountain stage, stage 4 flat but there is a short climb in the end, stage 5, 6 and 7 are attackers stages, stage 8 is the first summit finish in Campitello. stage 9 is an attackers stage, stage 10 is tricky because of the Tirreno Adriatico's walls. stage 11 is medium mountain with the white road climb of Poti. stage 12 is a sprint, and stage 13 has the same final as Milano-Sanremo. stage 14 is the queen stage with 2 big climbs and a downhill end. stage 15 is high mountain with the climb of oropa, and 16 is medium mountain with the Lomardia's climb of San Fermo in Como. stage 17 is likely a sprint in switzerland (or for attackers), stage 18 has a summit finish in Cavareno. stage 19 is a long ITT with the end in Gries San quirino as a commemoration of Shoah and WW2. stage 20 is the queen stage in dolomites with summit finish on the Passo Campolongo. stage 21 is a sprint in Roma.

The fight for the pink Jersey is on !
By benoît.guillot
maps/tours/view/8288
A few stats :
- 21 stages on 23 days.
- 11 plain stages, 3 medium moutain stages, 5 high moutain stages, 2 time-trial.
- 3612 km included 95,5 km of time-trial
- 6 top finishes and 64 KOM sprints included the Colle dell'Agnelo, Cima Coppi at 2744m
Main Stages :
Stage 1 : West-Jerusalem – Tiberiade, 212 km, plain
Tiberiade's Lake
maps/viewtrack/189677
This first stage will take cyclists to the famous Tiberiade's Lake where Jesus would have been walking on waters. The first Pink Jersey will go a sprinter after this long stage but some breakaway specialists will be dangerous for them.
Stage 2 : Tiberiade – Haïfa, 188 km, medium moutain
Haïfa
maps/viewtrack/189684
First KOM, first punches and more likely first time gap at standings. This stage is the perfect trap for the leaders.
Stage 3 : Tel-Aviv – Tel-Aviv, 53 km, TTT

Passo San Leonardo
maps/viewtrack/189697
The very first top finish will bring cyclists at the top of the Passo san Leonardo near the town of Sulmona in Abruzzes. Top climbers will not find enough difficulties to reach the win but the standing will move for sure.

Re: Giro d'Italia 2018 (Cat. 1, deadline on 4/5)
What did you exactly mean with "palestinian zone"? Just occupied palestinian territories of West Bank and Gaza Strip (and in this case a stage from Israel to Jordan passing thru the Israel-Jordan boundary and not passing thru occupied territories is feasible) or any Arab country is forbidden?
