Re: Contest #8 - La Vuelta 2020 - VOTING

THIRD PLACE: jibivalverde Stage 3 to 16 is very good but the first two stages feel underwhelming and are very weird. The kind where the mountains are too far for attacks to happen (even in the break probably) but too hard maybe for sprinters to win and effectively chase. Stage 17 is also very weak ...

Re: Contest #8 - La Vuelta 2020 - VOTING

A bit OT but I would love if we had a Peace Race contest for next year. It used to be the Grand Tour of the Eastern Bloc during the Cold War. It involved Czechoslovakia, Poland and Eastern Germany. The race touched Prague, Warsaw and Berlin every year. It could be very interesting to make. It was a ...

FIFTH PLACE: kanon16 The race is fine but you pulled the same mistake as jajajoe on Basque stages FOURTH PLACE: jajajoe The race is well designed but... Stage 1 and 2 finish in the middle of nowhere, there's no way a place like Beranga which is not large and doesn't have touristic interest could eve...

Re: Contest #8 - La Vuelta 2020 - VOTING

I think the fairest thing would be for you to keep your route in the contest (which is quite good, by the way) but maybe change that stage as I think many of us would have planned a stage into Andorra otherwise. I think it's the correct trade off. Andorra offers many more opportunities but Val d'Ara...

Emmea said no Andorra two posts down in the first page. Or else you would probably see it in almost all the courses.

Here is my contest : https://www.la-flamme-rouge.eu/maps/tours/view/16747 Picon Blanco's descent is a goat track unfortunately. Fix that and you have probably one of the best Tours if not the best As far as I know, it was supposed to get paved in a short time, but yes, nowadays it's unpaved. Roads ...

Re: Contest #8 - La Vuelta 2020 [Cat. 1]

Here is my Vuelta. The race will begin as the actual one a thuesday. There will be three rounds of 6 days of race separated by 2 rest days. This race is designed to be a nervous race with many stages where leaders can lose time or attack. Sprinters will however be welcome in many stages, giving the...

Re: Contest #8 - La Vuelta 2020 [Cat. 1]

https://www.la-flamme-rouge.eu/maps/tours/view/16559 My 2020 Vuelta starts in Alcala la Real and finishes in Madrid passing through all of the Spanish regions, something that a Vuelta excessively focused on the North has failed to do lately. All regions get a stage start or finish. Andalucia, Casti...

Re: Contest #4 - UCI Road World Cup - VOTING

Honestly, I didn't care much for the rules, it's a race design competition and not a rules making competition :p although the idea of the original contest was interesting, I think the November to February calendar forced many to make races in countries where almost no one cares about cycling and tha...

Second place: Improb - You could've been fighting for the first place, but I saw some little mistakes that probably took me to put you just here. First of all, I want to congratulate you for the good race you designed, specially in the first week, where you pass through some really interesting plac...

Re: Contest #3 - Grand Tour of the Grand Tours - VOTING

FIRST PLACE - Brumdog66 This Tour has got it all. It seems I had quite similar criteria to Ellvey in judging this contest :p I agree with all he said about your race. The Torello stage with Coll de Bracons is great and so is the Rat de Penat climb as the first MTF and the Cuenca stage. Stage 8 to 1...

Re: Contest #4 - UCI Road World Cup

I think the rules are fine, different cyclists can have a different kind of season this way, each with a different recovery time. This way, a sprinter may have its recovery time for example around the Vuelta or the Giro if he doesn't partecipate while a climber may do it in February/March or right a...

Re: Contest #3 - Grand Tour of the Grand Tours - VOTING

One more time, the choice war difficult to make. I tried to let my emotions speak when I first saw the planimetry of each tour, then dig into the stages to elaborate my top 5. So here it is. 5th place : Pincoletto Your route seems pretty cool to me, well balanced and everything but I don't like the...

Re: Contest #4 - UCI Road World Cup

The editor doesn't seem to work in Southern and Northern America. How can I make races there and enter them in the Flamme Rouge layout? Anyway, how big must a city have to be to make a race there? Can a race start and finish from different places in the same cities? Can we have the finish in suburbs...

Re: Contest #3 - Grand Tour of the Grand Tours [Cat. 1]
