Contest #5 - Spring Classics (Cat. 2, deadline on 22/4)

For the third regular contest of the season - fifth on overall - the topic will be, of course, the spring classics.

We took in exam some classics and the target will be different case by case. You can see this contests as a collection of small contests.

In the final delivery you have to deliver ONE single tour with all the classics insert in exactly the order of this post.

Omloop Het Nieuwsblad
Track 1 - Order in the tour: #1
In the last edition of the Omloop the race was crap due to have the only Muur as a real hard cobbled climb near the finish. Organizers decided to change it keeping the Muur as the key point and finish in Ninove but you have to change the route to have more battle in the middle portion like it was until 2017 edition. You have also to keep the race under 200 Km as it's only the first classic of the season

Strade Bianche
Track 1 - Order in the tour: #2
Are you bored from the finish in Siena? Yes, we are. The track of the strade Bianche will be about a complete re-design of the route changing the finish in a way that kept more longer portions on gravel road in the last Kms and also inserts some technical difficulties before the finish. The route should favourite early attacks but should not have too much km on asphalt than on gravel road in the final part as it's now.

Milano-Sanremo
Track 1 - Order in the tour: #3
Milano-Sanremo has to change. In the origin race was supposed to be 50% mass sprint, 50% attacks. Find a solution that keeping the key points of "La Classicissima" restored equal chances for late attackers. You cannot change start and finish points (see Milano-Sanremo 2018 in the calendar) and you have to stay under 300 Kms.

Track 2 - Order in the tour: #4
After the anti-system victory of Lega and Five Star Movement at the last elections, City of Sanremo decided not to pay anymore for the finish. You have to re-create a new Sanremo ending it in another place - not necessary in Liguria - but keeping start in Milano. You have to keep start point, staying over 290 and under 300 Kms. You cannot do loops or circuits. You have to insert similar difficulties, for place, length and slopes to Capi, Cipressa and Poggio. Turchino is a plus in the evaluation, but not required.

Track 3 - Order in the tour: #5
Unfortunately also Milan didn't decide to pay anymore for the start. Your job is to re-create again this classic between other two places in Italy. Of course you cannot use pieces of the previous track. It's not necessary drawing it in North Italy but start should be in a city comparable with Milan. (Turin, Rome, Florence, Venice, Naples etc...)

Gent-Wevelgem
Track 1 - Order in the tour: #6
The track here is simply about hardening the route after that Cassel was not present anymore in it. Think as you want but consider you cannot add more laps on Kemmelberg as Women's and Under 23 races has to pass over it. Of course you cannot move the finish line.

Ronde Van Vlaanderen
Track 1 - Order in the tour: #7
Let's make a FULL Ronde, for Full ronde, I mean you have to insert in the route all of the following bers at least one time: Muur, Bosberg, Koppenberg, Eikenberg, Taaienberg, Steenbekdries, Kruisberg/Hotond, Oude Kwaremont, Paterberg, Leberg, Berendries, Tenbosse, Kanarieberg, Baneberg, Monteberg, Kemmelberg, Kluisberg, Nokereberg, Molenberg, Valkenberg. Yes, we are going also in the Gent-Wevelgem zone, why vasting the first Kms doing all flat? You can start and finish where you want, of course in Flanders.

Track 2 - Order in the tour: #8
The second track about Ronde will be about Muur. You have to inser Muur in the route keeping it as a key part for the final outcome but keeping the finish line in Oudenaarde as it's today.

Paris-Roubaix
Track 1 - Order in the tour: #9
There is one forgotten Paris-Roubaix sector that is not anymore in the route: Phalempin à Gondecourt (maps/viewtrack/68001). Redesign the Roubaix keeping length and key parts to include this five star sector in the route. You can add it or you can choose to replace another hard sector with it.

Track 2 - Order in the tour: #10
Redesign the Paris-Roubaix in a belgian zone of your choice. You can help yourself with cobble map for zone and cobbles difficulty. Remember it has to be a Roubaix, not a Ronde, so don't use 10% or above Muurs.

Amstel Gold Race
Track 1 - Order in the tour: #11
After removing last Cauberg, Amstel organization decide to place again Amstel finish line in Maastricht. Redesign the route according to this decision, making an enyojable route with attacks that has to be done in the middle portion like in 2017 edition.

La Fleche Wallone
Track 1 - Order in the tour: #12
Redesign la Fleche Wallone removing Mur de Huy as uphill finish but keeping it as a key part in the final (last or penultimate climb) with a route that allows the race to be decided before the Mur

Track 2 - Order in the tour: #13
Redesign la Fleche Wallone in another zone of Wallonie at your choice, moving start and finish line. Mur de Huy must be present in the route in a position of your choice, not necessary as a key point. You cannot, of course, end in Liege and you have to choose a city comparable to Huy or big for the finish.

Liege-Bastogne-Liege
Track 1 - Order in the tour: #14
Redesign the Liege-Bastogne-Liege removing the finish in Ans. As in the Amstel Gold race, you have to propose a route that support the attacks in the middle portion of the race. Of course, you have to pass on Bastogne in the route. Finish cannot be uphill.

ALL THE RACES MUST BE DONE WITH THEIR RESPECTIVE ASO STYLES. Use Fleche Wallone style for Amstel. This will make comparison more easy for us. For race with a lot of climbs, you can decide not to insert slopes on profile if overlaps. I reccomend you all too choose VERY LARGE profile to use full x-axis.

The deadline will be on 22/4 when the winner of Liege-Bastogne-Liege crosses the finish line.

Please take your time in submitting the route, you won't win anything for being quick.

For the Strade:

1) Do we need to keep Sienna as a starting place?

2) Do we need to keep Sienna as finish?

3) If we need to keep a finish in Sienna, does the finish line stay on the Campo?

Do we have to keep the finish in Ninove for Omloop or can we change?

For challenge #10: should only the final of the race be in Belgium, or the entire race?

For Challenge #3 : what do you mean by key points ? The two city (Milano and Sanremo), the Poggio and the Cipressa ? or do we need to include the three Capi and the Turchino ?

Also the capi. Turchino is not required, but it's a plus.

Two questions:
1-Tour of Flanders #2 When you say Muur has to be a key part is it is now, does that mean we can put it anywhere in the last 95 km as it is now?
2-Paris Roubaix #2 Can we start in France and finish in Belgium if we use cobbled roads from both countries?

1 - It depends, if you go with a lot of flat after isn't key.
2 - No, only Belgium

This is an international forum, not an Italian forum and not all of us have time to write also rules in Italian. No one French or Spanish or German complained about that.

Challenge 3 is quite hard if we keep the key points you mentioned, keep the actual start, the actual finish line and try to stay under 300km. I don't know if i'm the only one having trouble, i've got an idea to eventually get under 300km but i can't make much change because of the 300km limit ... I'm at 306, i'm not that much over the limit but cutting the 6km will make my MSR very similar to the real one.
